Pump Types

-
Positive Displacement pumps (PDP) force the fluid along by volume changes.
-
Reciprocating: piston, plungers, diaphragm
-
Rotary: screw, gear, lobe, circumferential piston
-
Dynamic Pumps add momentum to the fluid by means of fast-moving blades or
vanes. There is no closed volume so they provide a much steadier discharge.
-
Rotary: centrifugal or radial, axial, mixed flow
-
Special Designs: jet pump, electromagnetic pumps
